  5.     Who killed Robert Ouko, and why? Thousands of students took
  6. to Nairobi streets last week, protesting the murder of Kenya's
  7. popular Foreign Minister. Ouko's charred and mutilated body was
  8. found on Feb. 16 in a field not far from his farm home in
  9. western Kenya, three days after he had mysteriously
  10. disappeared.

  12.     President Daniel arap Moi said the death appeared to be the
  13. result of "foul play" and pledged a thorough investigation. But
  14. the students feared that police reports, which stated that Ouko
  15. had been shot in the head, possibly with his own gun, might
  16. leave the impression that the minister had taken his own life.
  17. "Suicide, no! We want the truth!" they chanted as they marched
  18. on Moi's office. On Friday a memorial service for Ouko erupted
  19. in confrontation when demonstrators hurled stones at mounted
  20. police and troops, who responded with tear gas and charged the
  21. crowds with ax handles.
